How our
tables are fabricated
To produce these tables, solid slabs of volcanic rock are
cut to the size and shape required and fired in the kiln.
After which any stone imperfections
must be repaired by hand, to ensure perfection on the final
finish.
The top face of the stone is then glazed to provide a smooth,
sealed surface on which the design can be painted.
A final transparent glaze is then added and again the table
is fired. The ceramic technique used to produce these tables
is known as majolica.
This process produces an extremely durable, resilient surface
that is able to withstand all climates to -30 degrees, with
no damaging effect. They are also very resistant to the knocks
and scrapes of every day use. In commercial applications,
for example, in restaurants, hotels and bars, they will not
stain, and are impervious to hot plates or even cigarette
burns. So whether your table is for the dining room or patio,
conservatory or gazebo, its unique combination of strength
and beauty will grace your home for years to come.
All of our wrought iron table base's and chair's are zinc-galvanized
then powder coated to a charcoal finish to resist rust and
scratches, just wipe clean with a damp cloth or mild detergent
to maintain them. Rubber feet add stability and protect surfaces.
Our tables are ONLY made in Deruta, Italy; the sizes range
from as small as concierge size desk to the massive 8 foot
round tables. Most of the sizes have many options which can
be included, such as Lazy Susans or built in barbecues.
All of the designs which are represented in our patterns sections
can be reproduced in any size, although some designs look
better in the round shape and others in square or rectangular.
On the glazed ceramics surface you can spill coffee or tomato
juice or red wine and all you need to do is to wipe it out,
just like a regular plate.
It is also possible for us to reproduce any custom design
and size if needed, please contact us to discuss any requirements
you may have.
